In the game of life you fall into one of these two categories. Your either current or your classic. Current is the hear and now; classic is the standard for generations. Most of the time current people out number the classic individuals. The current people tell the classic people they need to change with times; they need to follow the trends to be liked. But the classics laugh at the currents because a classic individual knows the current individual is easily swayed by public pressure and opinion. Current is constantly changing to keep up with other unimportant people while the classics buck the trends and laugh at their folly. Take vinyl and the cassette tape. Those formats have long been outdated but they are considered classic now. DJ’s and producers salivate over gettin their hands on certain classic vinyl records. They don’t value cds or mp3s as much because that format brings with an experience that the current formats don’t provide. They don’t possess that classic scratchy sound and warm rich bass of yesteryear. Tapes even tho they are outdated possess the same feeling and nostalgia. Everyone in my generation remembers the purple tape by Raekwon. They remember makin homemade mixtapes off the radio when radio was actually good. They remember dubbin tapes for their homies and puttin tape or paper in the grooves on top of the tape to record over it. I made a killin doin that with a tape deck like one in the picture. Hell I even created my own instrumental loops and rapped over them on a karaoke machine like the one in the picture. Just because something is current doesn’t mean it’s better than its forefather in the past. In this disposable society you will lose your sanity trying to remain current because nothing is of value anymore. That’s why when anything of value is made it is deemed an instant classic nowadays. Stay classic my friends stay classic.
