Sidestreet Stanza

I came out the homie’s house after a quality building session about the kingdom and hopped in the chariot and it dawned on me. The most important lessons I have learned have been out here. Not in a class room, not in a church; out here. I have seen the laws of the universe applied and the punishments distributed without bias. Some of the best nights of my life have been on these. Chillin with a cup in hand while shooting the s**t aruging about a nagga gating the dice too much. I learned how to read patterns and see things before they materialize out here. If it’s too quiet some shit bout to jump off; if the block is empty it’s probably because the jumpouts been seen in the area. Seen it all, did it all and regret the majority of it. I learned about determination from dudes working the block on slow days. Outside from sun up to sun down and only went in the house with $50; it be like that sometimes. I seen loud talkers get beat out of their shoes on numerous occasions. Teddy bears on light poles, ice cream trucks that got work on them servin the pipers and kids at the same time. Chicks strippin in the middle of the street because of that dipper. Whatever you need you can find from stamps to license plates I knew where to find em or knew someone that did. Block parties that seem to last forever. Happy as hell in poverty cause I didn’t know any better. Looking back I realize seeing all these things shaped me as a man for better or worse. Hell will always be more exciting than heaven; just the way it is unfortunately. If it wasn’t for these side streets, alleys, porches and cuts I wouldn’t know how harsh life could be and what could happen to a person when they dance in fire. Reflecting……
